Windows 11’s Vision Pro-like remote desktop is now widely available on Quest 3
- Microsoft has released its Windows 11 remote desktop feature on Meta’s Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets, allowing users to beam multiple high-resolution monitors to their headset.
- The feature offers an immersive ultrawide mode similar to Apple’s Vision Pro, which can be accessed by transforming the virtual desktop into a curved display that follows the user’s field of view.
- Users can pair their Windows computer with their Quest headset using Mixed Reality Link and interact with their desktop display from within the headset.
- The update also includes new features such as rescaling and resizing displays across all apps, Full Passthrough to quickly check surroundings, and the ability to open up to 12 apps at once.
- These updates are part of the Horizon OS v81 update, which was rolled out over the past few weeks, allowing users to access a wider range of features on their Quest headsets.

Microsoft has officially released its Windows 11 remote desktop feature across Meta’s Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets. The feature can beam multiple high-resolution monitors to your Quest headset, while also allowing you to try an immersive ultrawide mode, similar to what you can do on Apple’s Vision Pro.
Microsoft first launched its virtual desktop feature on Quest headsets in preview in December 2024, and Meta started rolling it out more broadly over the past few weeks with the Horizon OS v81 update. The feature initially only supported multiple desktop displays, but UploadVR spotted an option to transform your virtual desktop into an ultrawide display that curves around your field of view.
After downloading Mixed Reality Link on a Windows computer, Quest 3 and 3S wearers can look at their keyboard and select “pair” to view and interact with their desktop display from their headset. Meta notes that you can either immerse yourself in your virtual desktop or use passthrough so that you can still see your surroundings.
Aside from this update, Meta is also rolling out the ability to rescale and resize displays across all apps, as well as a Full Passthrough feature to quickly check the environment around you by double-tapping on the side of your headset or clicking the action button on the Meta Quest 3S. You can now open up to 12 apps at once, too.
